n 1992 just out of high school, Amanda Bossard started her education in marine biology at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage, Alaska. Bossard began her commercial seafood career in 1999, after she began working on the ship F/V Sunset. The 65' schooner converted to an ice-fish tender was operated by Murat Aritan. He has been a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard has been the wife of Aritan and has joined their teams to take over their respective industries. Both of them are the direction of preserving resources and optimizing profit. In 2007, the mother of two children Bella age 3 as well as Andre 1 Bossard before returning to her home in Philadelphia established a direct wholesale distribution of seafood called Otolith. Otolith's name is a fond reference to Bossard's extensive knowledge about fish biology and her husband's vast connections to the industry of seafood. It is common for them to be separated for up to 5 months at a stretch while they work towards financial and environmental goals that reflect their commitment and independence wherever they live. As of July 2016 Bossard and her daughter Isabella age 12 and Andre age 10 Andre age 10 return to Southeast Alaska annually each summer for deckhand work throughout the wild salmon harvest in summer. For two months, Bossard and Isabella utilize hooks and lines to hunt for the salmon they want to catch. Aritan will then sell their fish to local processors. Amanda Bossard works as an anchor/MMJ for News 12 Brooklyn and News 12 Bronx. She has been with the station since November of 2015.
